Home ownership: Indigenous home ownership program key data
Safe and secure housing supports economic independence and long‑term wealth outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Data are sourced from Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) and provided to AIHW.
IBA supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to build wealth and economic self‑sufficiency through access to home ownership.
Under the Indigenous Home Ownership Program, IBA provides loans to eligible low‑income Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are unable to borrow the full amount required from mainstream lenders. Support is available to purchase established dwellings, undertake upgrades, or purchase land and construct a new home.
See Indigenous Business Australia for more information about the program, and IBA Annual Reports for further detail.
