Housing affordability: Residential property transfers - value and volume

Residential property transfers - value and volume

Median property prices indicate housing market activity and conditions and how these are changing over time.

Data are sourced from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) publication Total Value of Dwellings.
A transfer represents a change in ownership of a residential property.
Median prices of transfers include both established houses (on their own block of land) and attached dwellings (including flats, units and apartments, as well as semi-detached, row and terrace houses). Only dwellings where the primary purpose is residential are included.
The ABS publication also includes estimates of the number for transfers and the total value of residential dwelling stock.
See the ABS publication for more information, including data quality notes. Data for this visualisation are drawn from the Total Value of Dwellings data downloads (table 2).
