Housing market: Australian property value
Median dwelling values and rents indicate housing costs and market conditions and how these are changing over time.
Data are sourced from Cotality (formerly CoreLogic) residential property indices, provided to AIHW.
The indices cover three housing types: detached houses, units and a combined dwelling index.
Dwelling values are based on the Cotality Home Value Index, which applies a hedonic modelling approach to estimate value changes while accounting for differences in property characteristics such as location and structure.
Rental values are derived from the Cotality Rental Value Index, based on advertised weekly rents.
See the Cotality indices methodology and FAQs for more information on data sources, methods and limitations.
