Safe and secure housing is a key step in establishing economic independence and building inter-generational wealth. Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to grow their wealth and economic self-sufficiency through home ownership.
Under the Indigenous home ownership program, IBA provides loans to eligible low-income Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are unable to borrow all of the required funds from another mainstream lender (for example, a bank or credit union).
IBA supports eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to purchase:
- an established residential property
- an established residential property and upgrade, and
- land and construct a new home.
See Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) for further information about the Indigenous home ownership program, and the IBA Annual Reports for more detailed information.
