Outstanding housing loans show the value of Australian housing financing, contributing to an understanding of the size of the market, growth in housing credit, assets of lending institutions and household debt.

Quarterly loan outstandings to households for housing by lending institution since June 1988 are published in the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ (ABS) Australian National Accounts: Finance and Wealth. Australian National Accounts statistics are produced using information from a wide range of data sources and are compiled in accordance with international standards contained in the System of National Accounts.
